William Anderson House

William Anderson House is a quaint one and a half storey Greek revival home circa 1859 located within an area of heritage homes in the City of Miramichi.

William Anderson House is designated a Local Historic Place for being a fine example of a Greek revival home dating back to circa 1859.

It is remarkably original and its plank construction was secured with wooden pegs and handmade nails. The home was built for William Anderson, a tidewaiter, whose duties included overseeing the landing of goods from merchant vessels and collecting duties and taxes for the Crown.

The character-defining elements that define the architecture of this Greek revival home include:

- form and massing of a Greek Revival style;

- low pitched roof with central gable dormer on front elevation;

- clad in wooden shingles;

- symmetrically placed 6/6 double hung windows with shutters;

- squared tri-pane transom over front entrance;

- door hardware and flush mount mail drop original;

- eaves with returns and corner boards.
