Alex McKillop Homestead

Alex McKillop Homestead is located on Percy Kelly Drive in the former Village of Douglastown, today the City of Miramichi. The one-storey homestead farmhouse is typical of vernacular architecture within the farming community during the mid-1800’s.

Alex McKillop Homestead is recognized for its architecture. Built prior to 1850, the farmhouse is a good representation of vernacular dwellings constructed during this time. This homestead is located within an area settled by Scottish immigrants during the shipbuilding era of local employer Gilmour, Rankin & Co. Alexander McKillop, cabinetmaker, immigrated to the Miramichi area in 1820 from Arran, Scotland and built this residence prior to 1850.
