Satalic House

Satalic House is a white two-storey Folk Victorian Cottage style house located on Station Road, immediately adjacent to and to the west of the former Belleview Hotel in Rothesay.

Satalic House is designated a Local Historic Place for its architecture and for the role it played with the Belleview Hotel.

Satalic House is recognized for its uncommon architectural style of a Folk Victorian Cottage. The veranda is the most striking feature, decorated with dainty gingerbread trim. The original property included an apple orchard, extending away from Station Road toward Gondola Point Road, a few trees of which remain today.

Satalic House is also recognized as the caretaker’s residence for the former Belleview Hotel and Duart hall during the period that they were owned by the Lt. Gov. William Pugsley. The first and only caretaker was Henry Coffey, who lived in the house until his death in the 1930’s.
