Farrah's Corner Park

Farrah's Corner Park is a triangular piece of municipal green space with two small canons and a fountain. It is situated at the junction of Water Street and Chatham Avenue in Miramichi East.

Farrah’s Corner Park is designated a Local Historic Place for its association with two men that marked the history of Miramichi East.

Farrah's Corner Park is recognized for commemorating Miramichi lumberman William Richards who operated the former W. Muirhead & Bains Steam Sawmill near this site. Williams, son of a Welsh immigrant, operated numerous logging operations and sawmills along the Miramichi River system and became a significant employer to the Town of Chatham in the mid 1890's. When 'Richards the Lumber King' died, local citizens collected funds and in 1903 erected a fountain here on the town's former water tank site.

Farrah’s Corner Park is also recognized for commemorating Charles Farrah, a Lebanese immigrant, who operated a grocery store located directly behind the fountain.
