Trinity Methodist Church

The Trinity Methodist Church, also known as the Old Methodist Church, is a two-and-a-half storey vernacular Classic Revival building situated on the north side of Main Street, the main artery through the Village of Doaktown.

Trinity Methodist Church is designated a Local Historic Place for its religious affiliations.

The building was constructed for the parishioners of the Methodist Church in 1893. Previous to its construction, 'tent meetings' were held under a temporary canvas shelter. Following the Church Union of 1925, the Trinity Methodist congregation joined St. Thomas Presbyterian congregation and services were shared at both churches, now Trinity United, until 1939. The combined congregations then used the former St. Thomas Presbyterian Church as their place of worship, leaving Trinity Methodist Church vacant. In 1946 the building functioned as a private residence. A basement was hand dug at this time. The building is also valued for its association with the Reformed Baptist Church, which had acquired the place in later years while it functioned as a private residence.

Its continuing religious association is reflected in its current function as the rectory for the area's Wesleyan Church.
