Patrick Jean Store

Patrick Jean Store is a rectangular two-storey wooden commercial building located on Canada Street in Saint-Quentin.

Patrick Jean Store is designated a Local Historic Place for its architecture and for its association with its first owner.

Patrick Jean Store, built in 1945, is a good example of commercial architecture from this era in Saint-Quentin. This two-storey commercial-type building with a storefront has a cubical shape and flat roof which gave it a contemporary appearance at the time.

The store symbolizes the importance of Patrick Jean in the development of the Parish of Saint-Quentin and in northern New Brunswick’s forest industry. It also symbolizes the commercial success of his businesses and his community involvement in areas such as the hospital, water and sewer service, and the church. Patrick Jean was the owner of various businesses and four sawmills besides being president of numerous companies, such as Saint-Quentin Realty Ltd., Patrick Jean & fils Limitée, Épicerie Jean Limitée, Équipement Agricole Limitée, and Restigouche Milling Limited.
