Morrison Cove Pump House

Morrison Cove Pump House is located on Water Street in the City of Miramichi at the mouth of Morrison Brook on the south side of the Miramichi River. It is a one and a half storey brick utilitarian structure.

Morrison Cove Pump House is designated a Local Historic Place for its association with the original installation of water supply to the former Town of Chatham.

Morrison Cove Pump House was built in 1901 by local contractor James Mowatt. At the time, it contained two pumps to push water from nearby wells to supply the former Town of Chatham. Its utilitarian architecture is reflected in the use of brick, the hipped roof and overall rectangular massing. Morrison Cove Pump House remained in operation for three decades.
