035 King's Bridge Road Municipal Heritage Building

This structure is a three-storey wooden multiple dwelling located at the corner of King’s Bridge Road and Circular Road, St. John’s. The designation is confined to the footprint of the building.

035 King’s Bridge Road has been designated by the City of St. John's for its aesthetic value.

This dwelling is aesthetically valuable because it is a fine example of the Second Empire architectural design. It features a mansard roof, one-storey bow window, dormer windows and bracketing. 035 King's Bridge Road was the recipient of the Southcott Award in 1987.

All elements of the Newfoundland interpretation of Second Empire design including:

-Mansard roof, bow windows, dormer windows and bracketing;

-Narrow wooden clapboard;

-Size, shape, decoration and placement of windows;

-Left gable porch which is enclosed with brackets; and

-Decorative fascia board and brackets on bow windows.
