George Blair Residence

George Blair Residence, also know as Parkside, is a 1 /2-storey Greek Revival home located on a corner lot on Wellington Street within view of Elm Park in Miramichi.

George Blair Residence is designated a Local Historic Place for its architecture and its association with some of its former occupants.

George Blair Residence is a good example of Greek Revival residential architecture from the late 19th century in Miramichi. This 1 1/2–storey residence exhibits traditional features of this style in its form, massing and details.

George Blair Residence is also recognized for its association with some of the occupants. Its first owner George A. Blair was a tailor and kept a shop in the old stone Pallen Building in the Historic Water Street District of the former Town of Chatham, now Miramichi. He was also Chatham's first meteorologist for the Government of Canada. He had a keen interest in the betterment of the community and gave lectures at the Mechanics' Institute. He held the appointments of Justice of the Peace and Police Magistrate. The home is also associated with Dr. Bliss Marven who practiced medicine while he resided here from 1910-1934.
