William Ellis Saint House

Built in 1899, Ellis Saint House provides a good example of late nineteenth, early twentieth century vernacular architecture in Newfoundland. Located in Bonavista, the two-storeyed, steep gable roof house is a highly visible landmark in the town. The designation is confined to the footprint of the building.

The Ellis Saint House is designated as a Registered Heritage Structure due to its architectural and cultural values.

The Ellis Saint House is architecturally valuable as a good example of vernacular architecture of this period. There have been few alterations to the architectural style of the building since its construction and thus most style elements remain intact.

The Ellis Saint House is a landmark in the community of Bonavista. Its location at a high elevation makes the house a highly visible structure in the town.
