George and Myrtle Allen House

George and Myrtle Allen House is a single storey wood frame house located on the northwest corner of St. Laurent Avenue and Wilson Street in North Quesnel, BC. The historic place includes the building and the parcel of land it occupies.

The George and Myrtle Allen House has historic value as a physical reminder of the builders and owners of the home who shaped the devleopment of Quesnel.

The historic place is located in North Quesnel which is an older residential neighbourhood in the city. While not in its original form, the house uniquely contributions to the streetscape and supports the overall ambience of the block. The house was built by well-known local contractors Harker and Pawsey in 1939. They lived here while they built the Quesnel School.

The house is valued and named for its association with George and Myrtle Allen who lived in this house for many years. They were pioneers of Quesnel who owned and operated a bakery beside the Cariboo Hotel on Front Street.
